2026 Registration currently open for Tides Swim Team, Tide Ripples Pre-Swim Program & Dive Program!
Our mission is to provide opportunities in competitive swimming for children and youth in the City of Bethlehem and surrounding areas and to advance interest and access to swimming and aquatic-related programs and activities
Bethlehem Aquatic Club (BAC) was established in 1974 by the incredible athletes, Bill and Sherry Ruth, both Physical Education teachers in the Bethlehem Area School District (BASD). Sherry taught at Broughal and Liberty High Schools while Bill coached at Freedom and Liberty High Schools.
Bill and Sherry managed the Aquatic Club in Bethlehem until 1992. They were successful in training young swimmers to perform at the highest level, with many of them achieving national rankings in the Top 10. One of their swimmers even held a National Record.
The pair had a great bond with both Bethlehem Area School District and the City Parks Department, whose collaborations played a pivotal role in the success of the swim club. They retired in 2007 and relocated to Estes Park, Colorado. However, their long-cherished desire was to see BAC thrive and we are making their dream come true by reviving the Aquatic Club with a new summer swim team called The Bethlehem Tides.
The new Bethlehem Tides Swim Team is led by an incredible Board and Advisory Board, which includes two of Bill and Sherry’s former swimmers from the 1990s: Jaime Bloss and Sara Collins (formerly Dyson). Additionally, the partnership with the City of Bethlehem Parks and Recreation Department has been revived, resulting in the first-ever Summer City Swim Team.
The legacy of the Ruth family is expanding into something they always dreamed of and strived for - giving all kids access to the joy of competitive swimming! We invite you to join the Bethlehem Tides Swim team and be a part of the Bethlehem Aquatic Club family. Don't miss this milestone opportunity this summer and help pave the way for 50 more years of swimming development in the City of Bethlehem.
